Pryme Kingz – Millionaire

Trio Pryme Kingz have a sound that’s a fusion of different genres but is surprisingly refreshing. It’s definitely nice to hear something different. This single is being released on iTunes on the 23rd October. The boys, Young Freeze, La’al and Prelude DM have received recognition from the likes of Nicole Scherzinger, Dappy and Aston Merrygold (JLS) after appearing on X Factor in 2013.

DizZY VC – Scammer

If there is a single person in the world that doesn’t LOVE afrobeats, I will be extremely shocked and offended… LOL. Nigerian born artist DizZY VC (Vocal Chameleon), likes to mix afrobeats with hip-hop, bashment and rock to make a unique sound. “Scammer” is his most recent! I hope you enjoy, I sure did! DizZY is also soon touring with the legend that is Lauryn Hill!

Illusion – No Love

This is the first I’ve heard of singer/rapper Illusion and I’m liking what I’ve heard so far. Illusion‘s music is inspired by soul, funk and r&B sounds, and already having supported Sneakbo and gained support from the likes of Kiss, 1xtra, Capital Xtra, MTV, AKA & Flava, I’m expecting bigger things. I love an artist that makes music with meaning, something that is relevant to the current generation and not just your usual empty lyrics.

R Jay – Time Will Tell Vol. 2 (Free Download)

Time Will Tell Vol.2 is RJay’s 2nd R&B mixtape, with his first (Time Will Tell) being released just over 2 years ago. This tape consists of 11 tracks + 3 skits, and only has one feature (Colz).
This release from RJay is a very mature one, and showcases his talents as a vocalist and songwriter. He has consistently been improving — although the majority of his improvements have happened behind the scenes as he hasn’t actually released many singles — the progress from the previous project to this one is unbelievable. TWTV.2 almost sounds like an album, I would have definitely paid for this. “Wanderlust.” and “Ride” are probably my favourites on this project.

Jesse Gamage – Courage EP (Download)

JesseGamage- Courage EP

The extremely talented singer-songwriter Jesse Gamage recently released his “Courage EP“. It is a 5 track long EP comprised of absolutely beautiful soul music. Jesse Gamage will appeal to all audiences and can make anyone that listens to him fall in love with his smooth vocals. I cannot over-sell this, but I’ll do my best to just let the music speak for itself!

Jordan King – Unborn Child

I find Jordan King a beautiful mix of raw emotion, power and good looks. His voice and writing capabilities speak for themselves in this track. Absolutely stunning, and something slightly different from Jordan.

73V3N & Colz – Make You Mine (Official Video)

“Make You Mine” is the first song with 73V3n and Colz together and is a fun, afropop, summer song. The video is lighthearted and amusing, showing the story of two males (73V3N and Colz) going after a girl, but in the end she goes with someone else (RJay) and ends up paying for it.

Although there is evident autotune on this track, Colz’s singing is getting better and better, no doubt, as is his ability to create HITS. His work rate is high, much like his standards. I look forward to his future releases.

RJay – What I Miss

I cannot give RJay enough credit and praise for his progress. He has found himself as an artist, he’s found his sound and has developed his vocals hugely, I’m sure he’ll be able to tackle a few ballads with ease by now, and he’s even giving rapping a go, as we heard in his “Feeling Myself” freestyle with the lovely Colz. In addition to this his writing abilities have come on over the past year or so. His grind has paid off.

What I Miss” is taken from RJay’s forthcoming mixtape called “Selfish. Love. Mistakes“, and is set for release on June 14th, only a couple of weeks away, and I cannot wait for it, I’m certain it will be his best work yet, by far! We’ve been seeing more and more songs being released that don’t tend to have a set structure, and are without a chorus/verse/bridge etc, it’s been more common with rappers like JME and his “96 F#ckries”.

Loick Essien – Number One (Official Video)

I posted the audio for Loick’s “Number One” a little while ago, but I had to show you the video. The track showcases his powerful vocals without the ballad instrumentals. Makes me want to get ready for summer already, let’s hope it’s a good one. I’m excited that Loick is BACK! Also, I’m aware that posting someone who is not upcoming breaks my rules… but I couldn’t resist!

Abel Miller – My Life ft. Youngs Teflon

The UK R&B game is weak at the moment, but Abel Miller (as well as the likes of Rough Copy, Status etc) is doing the best to keep it alive and bring it back and is going hard! “My life” is taken from his forthcoming EP, “Patience” which has features from Mark Asari, MdotE, Jordan Morris, K Koke and more, due for release next month (June 2015). It is sounding like an album! I’m very excited for the release and for you lot to hear it.

I love the video for this, because it tells the story that I’m certain most musicians and artists go through. The grind to the top of this music business is hard, many upcoming artists are working a full time job to pay bills, whether they’re a bus driver, work in retail or even sell chicken. Paying for beats and videos comes at a very high price and few are exceptional in all 3 areas to do it themselves. However, hard work pays off and you must never forget your dream. Work hard now, and relax later.

  • [Thought of the Week]

"Maybe cheating in a relationship isn't the worst thing you could do, maybe it's just human nature?"

Remember when you were a child, and your parents would tell you you're not allowed to eat sweets, or make a mess in your bedroom, and you'd do the complete opposite and crave it even more just because you're not allowed? Or if you're on a diet, you know you're not allowed cake or carbs, but simply because you know you're not allowed it, you want it even more? Well surely the same applies in relationships?
Firstly, I want to start by saying we're not perfect, but perfection is something we should strive towards. Honesty is the best policy.
A friend of mine is genuinely one of the loveliest people I know, with the best heart and the best intentions and I don't want to show him in a negative light whatsoever, simply provide you with an alternative idea. I've known him for a few years, however we only started speaking properly about a year ago. We both found each other attractive, blah blah blah, so we decided to book a hotel room. He ignored me for a few days, so obviously something was wrong, then he told me there's another girl he loves (obviously I didn't know this before), as they weren't together. I didn't think much of it, actually I was extremely envious of this girl, and that she has someone in her life that is so dedicated and faithful. A few months later, conversation escalated, and we once again decided to go hotel, and a few days beforehand he once again cancelled. This time I was pretty angry and upset, because he'd lead me on and then cancelled. Obviously we're not together but I'm my own person too at the end of the day and don't want to be lead on.
Another few months later we started talking, innocent conversation about gym, films etc (this time via dm on twitter as I deleted his number and vice versa, I assume), and I had calmed down over the previous incident, he was a genuinely lovely person and I admire the faithfulness to his yet to be girlfriend, I hope I find someone like that in the future. But anyway, we decided to have a gym session together, as we live near each other we went to the park, and for the majority of it, it was a really good session, fun, productive (my legs KILLED the following day) but there was sexual tension, especially towards the end. My back was super sore from gym the previous day and he offered a massage, it was rubbish and he didn't get very far unfortunately as he was starting to give in, and couldn't resist the attraction any longer. Not a lot happened as I stopped him, before it escalated too far. I'd hate for my future husband to cheat on me, so I could only give this couple the same respect (they were together a few months at this point). The following day he thanked me, and was grateful for stopping him.
The point of this example is, I know my friend loves his girlfriend very much but none of us are perfect and we all give in to temptation now and again. Many males/females cheat because they have a craving, and a hoe gets in the way that has no respect for the relationship and only wants his/ her needs fulfilled, few will have a conscience and stop anything

Alternatively, on a separate occasion I was speaking to another friend about this topic. He told me that he's seen a sidechick/man save many relationships. His reasons were that if you have an argument with your partner, instead of ending the relationship, you go to see a sidechick/man, relax, then go back to your partner happy and proceed as normal. I disagree with his reasoning however I see the point behind it.
As long as you don't make a habit out of temptation, and are honest... maybe we're too extreme when it comes to cheating? I disagree with cheating, and don't condone it, however this is just a thought. Everyone get's bored of everything eventually if you get too high a dose, it's just a matter of balance.
