Illusion – No Love

This is the first I’ve heard of singer/rapper Illusion and I’m liking what I’ve heard so far. Illusion‘s music is inspired by soul, funk and r&B sounds, and already having supported Sneakbo and gained support from the likes of Kiss, 1xtra, Capital Xtra, MTV, AKA & Flava, I’m expecting bigger things. I love an artist that makes music with meaning, something that is relevant to the current generation and not just your usual empty lyrics.

A Post-Apocapitalistic World

I have previously described capitalism like a zombie apocalypse and we all know what happens after a zombie apocalypse… absolutely nothing, just a bunch of zombies searching for the last drop of fresh blood to sip on. But what happens in a post-capitalism world? Who knows. But it is most definitely time to start saying goodbye to capitalism.
From the day you are born, your world revolves around money and the older you get, the greater part it plays in your life. Every rapper is holding a stash of money in their music video, but they might as well be hugging a tree if they love paper so much.
Now… what is money? A piece of paper/metal? A number on a screen? If you look on a £5 note it says “I promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of five pounds”. Think about it, your whole life revolves around an exchange of promises. Money is an anthropogenic creation that governs our lives. Think of capitalism like Frankenstein’s monster; an idea that initially had good intentions but went completely wrong and started destroying the world.

“The average human on earth has about $4,000 to their name” (WaitButWhy)

Before capital, objects of similar worth would be exchanged, for example 5 chickens for an axe or a cow. The trade is agreed by the owners depending on their needs. This means that no one is caught out and thus trade is a means of equality and obtaining necessities. However, since the development of capital and capitalism, it has turned into a means of dividing the human race and exacerbating our worst qualities, i.e. greed, depression, anger etc. So to repeat, money is an idea gone wrong, because it wasn’t controlled during the beginning stages, so a few took advantage of it until it got out of hand to the point that currently, in the present day and age 1% of the global population own over 50% of the total global capital, or the bottom 50% (3.5 BILLION PEOPLE) of the population own just 1% of global money.

“The combined wealth of the richest 85 people is equal to the combined wealth of the poorest 3.5 billion people”

Right, so I hope that now you understand why money is the worst invention ever. “We’ve always had money, that will never ever change” I hear you say, then what comes after money? Just because money is all we know, does not me it’s all that has ever been and all that will ever be.

What can we do instead?
Well for starters we should break away from the government and split up into small communities, with a mayor or council in charge of each community. We need to do this because each community has different needs, some require more jobs, some require better education etc. It is impossible for a centralised government to cater for everybody’s needs, especially when the central government is only interested in making the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. Banks should solely store money and nothing else! An initial fee should be payed for the service and that’s it. Money should NOT be allowed to be borrowed from banks – people can learn to save before buying things they don’t need.
I think food should be rationed (not like during the World Wars) but in the sense that everyone has a limit on the food that they can buy, to stop obesity and stop the wasting of food. Everyone should be on equal terms when it comes to food and water.
My next idea might confuse or even anger you or you might just find it weird. The idea of money needs to go completely *pretends to slam dunk the idea in the trash*. All money should be burned and all numbers on computers wiped. This instantly puts everyone on equal grounds. Without money, no one person is better than another. If there’s no money, what is there? Well, ideally… nothing. A doctor needs a farmer, a plumber, builder etc to sustain a living. Cleaners, housemaids etc, every job in a community is necessary no matter how small or insignificant. This means that every single person within the community has to rely on each other to sustain a living, so a simple exchange of services between one another is what should drive the community. This would require team work on a large scale, cooperation and trust between every member. Now if everyone is treated as an equal, there is no need for one person to act better than another person. Greed and anger are qualities that should not be tolerated under any circumstances in a small community, so a person who acts out of line would be punished, whether prison, community service (for example picking rubbish, cleaning graffiti) or something worse potentially, depending on the size of the crime. In addition to this, because communities are small, word of mouth is powerful, and “criminals” would be known to all. This means that once their punishment is over, everyone would be cautious of them. This again would act as another deterrent for crime.

“I hope that real love and truth are stronger in the end than any evil or misfortune in the world.” – Charles Dickens

If we don’t act soon, nature will. Nature is much more powerful than the most powerful man on the planet. No money on the earth can overcome Mother Nature. If Mother Nature is angry you will know. Earthquakes, monsoons, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions… all devastating phenomenons that we are trying to fighting a losing battle against. Anthropogenic global warming is not a myth, and these events are increasing in frequency and strength. We are currently too greedy and are exploiting the earth’s resources to benefit ourselves, but sooner or later we will end up paying for it. Money cannot save us when all the trees have been chopped down, all the rivers polluted and everyone is angry at everyone else.
We are the only specie that is destroying this planet. What makes us so special? What right do we have to take advantage? You wouldn’t go home with a wrecking ball and start knocking it down, so why do that to the Earth?
Show love and respect, and you will get that in return. Give out hatred and anger, and evil will come back to you.

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”  – Martin Luther King Jr.

We Live in a Zombie Apocalypse (Thought of the Week)

We see so many movies where the world is run by zombies who destroy absolutely anything and everything in their way to get to their next source treasure, i.e. blood. These zombies are hypnotised, in a sense to not see anything other than their target, they have no emotions, no soul and no sense of right or wrong, good or bad. You may think this will never happen, it’s a million miles away from reality and that humans are incapable of such thing. However, I am here to tell you that it’s already happening! You already live in zombie apocalypse.

Now here comes there metaphor…
Capitalism — an economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state — thrives on profit, and its main aim is to find the next big source of income, whether it be Oil, Gas (through fracking), whether its through the apple watch, etc. Capitalism doesn’t care where the next source of profit comes from… as long as it makes profit and LOTS OF IT. It doesn’t care if nature gets destroyed, if people get killed, whether it causes climate change and billions worth of damage.
Luckily, there are human survivors, and lots of them. We have the power to kill these zombies off, stop the handful of people that own absolutely everything on this planet. We need to stick together and FIGHT. At the end of the day, money is something that was invented by humans that has no real value, yet it is driving people crazy. When you die… your money doesn’t die with you. People concentrate too much on materialistic things rather than what actually matters.

"Maybe cheating in a relationship isn't the worst thing you could do, maybe it's just human nature?"

Remember when you were a child, and your parents would tell you you're not allowed to eat sweets, or make a mess in your bedroom, and you'd do the complete opposite and crave it even more just because you're not allowed? Or if you're on a diet, you know you're not allowed cake or carbs, but simply because you know you're not allowed it, you want it even more? Well surely the same applies in relationships?
Firstly, I want to start by saying we're not perfect, but perfection is something we should strive towards. Honesty is the best policy.
A friend of mine is genuinely one of the loveliest people I know, with the best heart and the best intentions and I don't want to show him in a negative light whatsoever, simply provide you with an alternative idea. I've known him for a few years, however we only started speaking properly about a year ago. We both found each other attractive, blah blah blah, so we decided to book a hotel room. He ignored me for a few days, so obviously something was wrong, then he told me there's another girl he loves (obviously I didn't know this before), as they weren't together. I didn't think much of it, actually I was extremely envious of this girl, and that she has someone in her life that is so dedicated and faithful. A few months later, conversation escalated, and we once again decided to go hotel, and a few days beforehand he once again cancelled. This time I was pretty angry and upset, because he'd lead me on and then cancelled. Obviously we're not together but I'm my own person too at the end of the day and don't want to be lead on.
Another few months later we started talking, innocent conversation about gym, films etc (this time via dm on twitter as I deleted his number and vice versa, I assume), and I had calmed down over the previous incident, he was a genuinely lovely person and I admire the faithfulness to his yet to be girlfriend, I hope I find someone like that in the future. But anyway, we decided to have a gym session together, as we live near each other we went to the park, and for the majority of it, it was a really good session, fun, productive (my legs KILLED the following day) but there was sexual tension, especially towards the end. My back was super sore from gym the previous day and he offered a massage, it was rubbish and he didn't get very far unfortunately as he was starting to give in, and couldn't resist the attraction any longer. Not a lot happened as I stopped him, before it escalated too far. I'd hate for my future husband to cheat on me, so I could only give this couple the same respect (they were together a few months at this point). The following day he thanked me, and was grateful for stopping him.
The point of this example is, I know my friend loves his girlfriend very much but none of us are perfect and we all give in to temptation now and again. Many males/females cheat because they have a craving, and a hoe gets in the way that has no respect for the relationship and only wants his/ her needs fulfilled, few will have a conscience and stop anything

Alternatively, on a separate occasion I was speaking to another friend about this topic. He told me that he's seen a sidechick/man save many relationships. His reasons were that if you have an argument with your partner, instead of ending the relationship, you go to see a sidechick/man, relax, then go back to your partner happy and proceed as normal. I disagree with his reasoning however I see the point behind it.
As long as you don't make a habit out of temptation, and are honest... maybe we're too extreme when it comes to cheating? I disagree with cheating, and don't condone it, however this is just a thought. Everyone get's bored of everything eventually if you get too high a dose, it's just a matter of balance.
